Lt. Col. Stephen Magennis

US Army War College Fellow, ICT, Reichman

Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Magennis is an Infantryman whose troop leading assignments include Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer in a Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Infantry Basic Training Company Commander, Airborne Company Commander, Air Assault Operations and Executive Officer at the Battalion and Brigade levels, and Light Infantry Task Force and Rifle Battalion Commander.

 

His broadening assignments include Battalion Assistant Operations Officer, Aide-de-Camp to the Chief of Infantry, Brigade Combat Team and Division Future Operations Planner. He was the first Deputy Operations Officer for the Soldier Lethality-Cross Functional Team under Army Futures Command during its activation and initial stand up. He is also a Joint Qualified Officer.

 

Steve deployed numerous times to Iraq and Afghanistan from 2005-2015. Additionally, he deployed to Puerto Rico and served as the Joint Operations Officer for the Dual Status Commander during hurricane response operations in 2017.

 

His military schooling includes the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Maneuver Captains Career Course, Ranger, Airborne, Air Assault, and Jumpmaster courses. He previously served as an Interagency Fellow at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Stetson University and a Masters in Personal Finance from Kansas State University.
