Dr Katja Samuel is the Director of Global Security and Disaster

Management Ltd (www.gsdm.global), a consultancy company

offering specialist legal and non-legal expertise across a broad

range of security and disaster risk/management issues. Currently,

she is co-chair of the American Society of International Law's

Disaster Law Interest Group, and a consultant for the UN Office on

Drugs and Crime (Terrorism Prevention Branch). Previously, she was

Associate Professor in Global Security and Disaster Law at the

University of Reading, UK where she designed and implemented

globally unique Masters Degree programmes framed around

international disaster law. She has published widely on themes of

security (especially counter-terrorism) and disaster risk management

(with two books forthcoming with Cambridge University Press

during 2019).
