Israel-Hamas: Hudna or Victory

Israel-Hamas: Hudna or Victory

Summer 2018 brought with it an escalation of tension along the Israeli-Gazan border. Gazan protests, border infiltration attempts, rocket launching and the widespread launching of incendiary kites and balloons, garnered an Israeli response and led to a renewal of tension along the fragile border. August brought with it an potential deal for the cessation of the tension, a deal which if accepted, outlines concessions from both Hamas and Israel, and calls for a calm along the border. However, there are questions of the stability of such a deal. This session will discuss the proposed Israel-Hamas deal, and address a series a questions about the longevity of such a deal; is this just another hudna, or a true lasting victory in the ongoing conflict?
