Brig. Gen (Res.) Charly Shugg
Brigadier General Shugg, USAF (Retired), is Executive Director of the Global
Consortium for Counter Cyber Terrorism (GC3T) and a Partner in the Sylint Group.
GC3T is a non-profit corporation and independent think tank dedicated to raising
awareness and providing expertise in developing solutions to mitigate the emerging
threat of cyber terrorism. As Partner and Chief Operating Officer of Sylint Group, he
oversees an elite team of cyber security and digital forensic professionals providing
security strategy and incident response to Fortune 500 companies, non-profit
organizations and government entities.
General Shugg has over 30 years of National Security experience with extensive
emphasis in military operations, strategy development and strategic planning for
emerging cyberspace operations and unmanned aircraft systems for both
government and commercial organizations. In his last U.S. Air Force position, he
was key in establishing the Air Force Cyber Command as well as assisting U.S.
Cyber Command in reaching initial operating capability. His role consisted of
directing activities of over 16,000 personnel assuring U.S. Combatant
Commanders were provided with the highest caliber cyberspace forces. In addition,
he was responsible for planning and execution of cyberspace operations to extend, maintain and defend the Air Force’s portion of the Department of Defense global network.
General Shugg is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and holds numerous advanced degrees to include a Master of Science degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College, Washington DC.
