Ms. Raheel Raza is the President of The Council for Muslims Facing

Tomorrow, founding member of The Muslim Reform Movement,

Director of Forum for Learning, award winning journalist, public

speaker, advocate for human rights, gender equality and dignity in

diversity. She is the author of the books "Their Jihad – Not my

Jihad"; "How Can You Possibly be a Muslim Feminist?"; "Journeys of

a Spiritual Activist"; and "How Can You Possibly Be an Anti-Terrorist

Muslim?: A Devout Muslim Provides Answers to This All-too-often

Rhetorical Question".

An outspoken advocate for gender equality and an activist for

women's rights internationally, she has appeared many times in

print, radio and television media to reveal and debate Canadian

issues related to media, diversity, gender and immigrants. Ms. Raza

has received many awards for her work to build bridges of understanding. She is a recipient of the City of Toronto’s Constance Hamilton Award and is the first South Asian woman to narrate a CBC documentary on “Passionate Eye”. A fervent advocate for human rights, Ms. Raza is the first Muslim woman in Canada to lead mixed gender prayers. She has also received Canada’s Sesquicentennial commemorative medal for ‘exceptional contributions to Canada’.

In her pursuit for human rights, Ms. Raza is accredited with the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva and the UN in New York.  In July 2017, she gave a testimony to the US Congress on “Combating Homegrown Terrorism”.

In addition, Ms. Raza runs a Forum for Learning with panels and several discussions with international speakers. She has taught courses on various aspects of Islam at George Brown College and Ryerson University in Toronto for the past five years. Ms. Raza has also made a documentary film called “Whose Sharia is it anyway?” dealing with the sharia debate in Ontario, Canada.
