Dr. Raed Arafat is the Secretary of State and Head of Emergency

Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Romania. He currently

coordinates the activities of the General Inspectorate for Emergency

Situations (Fire and Civil Protection) and those of the Inspectorate

of General Aviation with regard to emergency medical interventions

and rescue operations. Additionally, he oversees the activities of

prefects (governors) with regard to emergencies and coordinates the

operational activities of the ambulance services; hospital based

emergency departments; and mountain rescue services.

 

Dr. Arafat formerly held the positions of Minister and Secretary of

State at the Ministry of Health in Romania. He coordinated the

national health system and the Ministry’s strategic programs,

including residency training.
