Dr. des. Milena Ulmann
Milena Uhlmann is a Policy Advisor at the Counter-Terrorism Task
Force of the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, for Building
and Community. Prior to this position, she worked as a Research
Associate at the Migration, Integration and Asylum Research
Centre of the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees.
In that function, she evaluated the work of the Advice Centre on
Radicalisation, which is also located at the Office. Based on the
evaluation, she designed a comprehensive research project to
provide practical support to persons working in deradicalisation.
Before joining government services, Milena worked as a researcher
and consultant for organisations such as the Royal United Services
Institute and the Institute for European Politics on security related
topics.
She has been working on topics such as developing comprehensive and interdisciplinary approaches to countering violent extremism, facilitating knowledge transfer between practice, research and policy, and enhancing empirically-based research on (de)radicalisation. She has conducted extensive research on conversions to Islam in Western Europe, the topic of her dissertation.
