Comm Michael Fuller

Commissioner Fuller joined the NSW Police Force in 1987. His

early career saw him gain experience in general duties and

criminal investigation in various metropolitan stations and specialist

investigative areas, with a focus on drugs and organised crime.

In 2001, Commissioner Fuller was promoted to Duty Inspector at

Eastern Beaches Command – he also had the responsibility of

managing undercover operations and assets for the Inner

Metropolitan Region.

In 2004, Commissioner Fuller was promoted to Superintendent,

serving as Operations Manager for the Greater Metropolitan Region

and working across a number of Police Area Commands.

In 2005, Commissioner Fuller successfully trialled and implemented

the Region Enforcement Squad model, to address mid-level crime across the state of NSW.

Commissioner Fuller has led multi-agency emergency response operations to major fires, floods, protests and terrorist incidents and was involved in the planning and operations for high profile events such as APEC in 2007 and World Youth Day in 2008.

Commissioner Fuller was awarded the Australian Police Medal in 2009 before being promoted to Assistant Commissioner in 2010 as the Commander of the Southern Region.

Commissioner Fuller subsequently led the Professional Standards Command from 2012 to 2014 where he successfully implemented a corruption prevention framework focusing on ethical decision making.

In 2014, Commissioner Fuller was transferred to the Central Metropolitan Region, taking control of the Sydney City and surrounding suburbs. Commissioner Fuller was the first Commander on scene during the Lindt Café Terrorist attack – he was responsible for establishing operational command and control of several potential crime scenes, multiple evacuations around the terrorist stronghold and messaging to over 7.9 million people.

In 2015, as Corporate Sponsor for Family & Domestic Violence, Commissioner Fuller was the architect of the targeting system for serious, repeat offenders with establishment of the domestic violence high risk offender teams and the use of suspect target management plans. This ground-breaking strategy saw domestic violence offenders profiled like armed robbers.

In April 2017, following Commissioner Fuller’s appointment to the role of Commissioner, he led the largest restructure in NSW Police Force history. The Re-engineering Program broke down the siloed ‘top heavy’ structure, allowing the Commissioner to allocate positions to meet the current and future crime and environmental challenges.

Commissioner Fuller holds a Graduate Diploma in Executive Leadership, a Diploma of Applied Policing and several diplomas and certificates in leadership and management.
