Lieutenant Colonel John Myers most recently served as the Chief of
the Office of Defense Cooperation, U.S. Embassy, Tbilisi, Georgia.
He is a graduate of George Mason University, and received his
commission as an Infantry lieutenant through Officer Candidate
School after service as an enlisted Infantryman.
Lieutenant Colonel Myers served in a variety of leadership positions
including deployments to both Operation Enduring Freedom and
Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Company Commander and Military
Transition Team Chief. In 2007, LTC Myers transitioned to service
as an Army Foreign Area Officer with an area of concentration of
Eastern Europe and Eurasia. He served in this capacity in
Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Georgia.
His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (3), Meritorious Service Medal (3), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3), Army Achievement Medal (4), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (2), Global War on Terror Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (9), Joint Meritorious Unit Award (2), Meritorious Unit Citation, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Ranger Tab, the Georgian Medal of Honour, and the French National Defense Medal with Ground Forces clasp.
Lieutenant Colonel Myers is married. He and his wife have one son.
